All About Makeup
This part of The Decora Handbook is dedicated to makeup! But, there really aren’t any specific decora makeup styles so we are going to go over popular styles of makeup that are worn with decora!
Face Accessories
The most well known face accessory associated with decora is of course, face stickers and bandages! You can also use gems as decoration.
The best way to use stickers, bandages, and gems is to reuse them! A helpful tip to keep them on and sticky over and over again is to add lash glue, and they will stay quite secure. It’s always better to reuse what we have instead of throw them away each time into landfill.
Makeup Styles
Everyone’s makeup style tends to be unique to themselves, and I encourage everyone to not copy from others signature looks online, but instead take inspiration!
No makeup
Our first makeup style, isn’t really a style… but it’s a really common way people wear decora. The juxtaposition between no makeup or very light makeup with all the accessories is a fun and youthful look.
Cute Makeup
Makeup with the intent to make the wearer as cute as possible is also super commonly seen!
Features of cute makeup can include:
Big circle lenses
Anime/manga style lashes
Contouring to make the eyes bigger
Soft lip combos
Soft highlights and contouring
Harajuku makeup

Okay, describing it as harajuku makeup is a little vague, there’s so many substyles in harajuku. What I’m referring to here are the makeup styles seen in NEO Decora meets on the streets of Harajuku. These styles are often maximalist like the fashion. Popular Decora Kid’s who rock this style include Zoni-chan, METEORMARU, and Erunyan, just to name a few.
Features of this style can include:
Coloured contouring
Unique eye shapes and drawn on lashes
Other drawn on details

Shironuri

Shironuri is a Japanese makeup style that has a broad description in that the key, and only feature, is a white painted face. Because it is broad, shironuri can be worn in any style, but it is commonly seen in Visual Kei. It is inspired by traditional Japanese makeup like Geisha and has (allegedly) a political background, however it's lost most association. Shironuri has been popularised on the internet by artist Minori-San @minori00mon
Features of this style can include:
White base (mandatory)
Heavy eye makeup
Lashes
Oshare Kei inspired

Oshare Kei is an offshoot of Visual Kei which is considered more cheery and bright coloured, but retains edgyness and Harajuku pop elements. Oshare has been attributed as an influence to decora fashion and makeup. In older decora coords we can see oshare style makeup being worn.
Features of this style can include:
Heavy black eyeshadow
Rounded eye make shape
Pops of color
Graphic liner
Masc contour

Graphic liner refers to mostly eyeliner looks where details have been drawn, like stars, or intricate lines. Graphic liner but anything from abstract designs to little drawings.
